This policy explains what Albert T Clark ("Save a Seat") collects, why, and the choices you have. Short version: we collect what's needed to run your pages and payments, we never sell your data, and we don't run advertising trackers.
1. What we collect
From hosts
- Account details: name, email, and a securely hashed password (we can't see your password).
- Page content: event titles, dates, places, messages, photos, schedules, registry links, and settings.
- Billing: your plan and subscription status. Card details are handled by Stripe — we never see or store full card numbers.
- Payout setup: hosts who sell tickets or collect gifts give identity and bank details directly to Stripe. We only receive whether the account is ready to accept payments.
From guests
- RSVPs and sign-ups: your name, optional email, whether you're coming, party size, guest names, and any meal or dietary notes you choose to share.
- Purchases and contributions: your name, email, amount, and any note. Payment details go straight to Stripe.
Automatically
- Basic technical data — IP address, browser type, and request logs — used for security, rate limiting, and fixing problems.
- Notes you leave on a greeting card are shown on that card to anyone who has its link, along with the name you enter. The card's sender can remove notes.
- If a host sends you a personal invitation link, the host can see whether and when that link was opened and your reply. General event links are not tracked per person.
- One essential cookie that keeps hosts logged in. We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
2. How we use it
- To run Save a Seat: show pages, record RSVPs, process tickets and gifts, and send account and receipt emails.
- To keep it safe: prevent fraud, spam, and abuse, and secure accounts.
- To support you and improve the product.
- To meet legal, tax, and accounting obligations.
We only send transactional email (password resets, receipts, invitations, and important account notices). If we ever add marketing email, it will be opt-in with a one-click unsubscribe.
3. Who sees it
- The host of an event sees the RSVPs, sign-ups, purchases, and contributions for that event, including guest names, emails, and notes. Co-hosts the host invites can see them too.
- Other guests see only what the page shows publicly — for example, contributor names and notes on a gift wall, unless you gave anonymously.
- Service providers who help us run Save a Seat, under contracts that limit their use of your data: Stripe (payments), our hosting provider (servers and databases), our email delivery provider, and Google Fonts (which receives your IP address when a page loads its fonts).
- The law: if we're legally required to, or to protect people's safety or our rights.
- A buyer of Save a Seat, if the business is sold, under this same policy.
We do not sell or rent personal information, and we don't share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
4. Event pages are shared by link
Anyone with an event's link can view its page, so only share it with people you'd invite. We ask search engines not to index event pages. Hosts: avoid putting sensitive details (like a home address for a large public link) in the page text.
5. How long we keep it
We keep account and event data while your account is active. When you delete an event or your account, we delete the related data within 30 days, except records we must keep for tax, accounting, fraud prevention, or legal reasons (for example, payment records), and copies in backups that expire on a rolling basis.
6. Your choices and rights
You can ask us to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information by emailing support@saveaseat.rsvp. Guests can also ask the host directly to remove their RSVP. Depending on where you live (including California and the EU/UK), you may have additional rights; we honor them and won't treat you differently for using them. We'll respond within the time the law requires and may need to verify your identity first.
7. Security
We use HTTPS everywhere, hash passwords, store password-reset links only in hashed form, limit repeated login attempts, and keep payment details with Stripe. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we'll tell you as the law requires.
8. Children
Save a Seat isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email support@saveaseat.rsvp and we'll delete it.
9. Where data is stored
Save a Seat is operated from the United States, and data is stored and processed in the U.S. If you use Save a Seat from elsewhere, your information will be transferred to the U.S.
10. Changes
If we make material changes, we'll update the date above and notify account holders by email or in the app before they take effect.
